As Head Physician and Head of the Practice for Plastic Surgery at Park-Klinik Birkenwerder, I would like to welcome you. In the following you can learn something about my professional career and also about me personally.
I was born the daughter of an Italian father and a German mother in New York, USA, where I spent the first formative years of my childhood, until our family moved back to Germany.
After attending a grammar school in Königstein in the Taunus, I began my medical studies, but remained faithful to my artistic inclinations (acting and music) during my studies. I spent part of my studies in Perugia, Italy, where I devoted myself to Italian language and art history. I gained valuable impulses for my later work there.
I discovered the love of plastic surgery early on and took this path for my specialist training. He took me to renowned clinics: the Bürgerhospital in Frankfurt am Main, the Charité in Berlin and the Hannover Medical School.
The focus of my scientific work during my specialist training was breast reconstruction, the ultrastructure of the scar and the skin replacement for severely burned through artificial skin as well as the aesthetic surgery of the face. Later, the treatment of the tumors of the face and the folding therapy was added. A research stay as part of a project funded by the German Research Society took me to Hungary, to the University of Debrecen. Numerous lecture commitments at home and abroad have been an integral part of my professional activity since the beginning of my apprenticeship. Another stay abroad led my family and me to Vienna for a few years, where I worked as a private doctor at the private clinic “Goldenes Kreuz”.
Since the year 2000 I have run my own practice for plastic surgery in the premises of the Asklepiosklinik, since 2012 now Park-Klinik Birkenwerder. I am married and have three sons and one daughter. In my free time, I love being with my family and friends. My other hobbies are violin and flute playing in my ensemble. I like to go to the opera, concerts and the theater or read a good book. For relaxation, I treat myself to yoga breaks or a ride with my Trakehner mare Revia through Brandenburg’s forests and lakes.
